Srinagar, Feb 11 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir recorded 33 cases of crimes against Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) during the past three years.
According to data presented in the Lok Sabha, J&K reported 7 cases of crimes against SCs in 2020, which increased to 13 in 2021 before slightly declining to 11 in 2022.
Crimes against STs, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), were significantly lower, with only one case each reported in 2021 and 2022, while there were no such cases in 2020.
The data further revealed that crimes specifically targeting SC women were minimal, with one case reported in 2020 and another in 2022, while no such cases were registered in 2021.
Similarly, no cases of crimes against ST women were reported in J&K between 2020 and 2022.
In Ladakh, the figures remained at zero across all categories, indicating no registered cases of crimes against SCs, STs, or women from these communities over the three-year period—(KNO)
